Accessibility statement

SWYAA Spain wants this site to be usable by everyone. We designed it with the aim of meeting the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA.

Current status

The site is partially conformant with WCAG 2.2 AA. We do not claim full conformance because we have not yet carried out a full audit with users of assistive technologies, and because of these known limitations:

  • Many photographs in the historical archive have a generic description. We are describing them one by one.
  • Some older PDF documents are scanned images and cannot be read by screen readers.
  • Part of the content is only available in Spanish. Untranslated pages say so and link to the Spanish version.
  • The Japanese version is awaiting review by a native speaker.

What we have taken care of

  • Full keyboard navigation, a skip-to-content link and a focus indicator that is always visible.
  • Sufficient colour contrast and text that reflows when zoomed up to 400%.
  • The home page animation does not play if your system asks for reduced motion, pauses when off screen and can be stopped with the «Motion» control in the header image; your browser remembers the choice.
  • The illustrated voyage on the home page is optional: each port of call is an ordinary link and the main menu is always available.
  • The language of each page, and of any passage in another language, is declared in the code.
  • An image viewer that works with the keyboard (arrow keys and Escape).
  • The site works without JavaScript.

How we checked

Automated tests (axe-core and Lighthouse) and manual review with the keyboard, text zoom and reduced motion, at widths from 375 to 1920 pixels. Date of the latest review: 16 October 2026.
